Ethel M. Schaaf

Ethel M. Schaaf, 97, of Lewistown, passed away, Wednesday evening, Sept. 11, 2019, at her home.  Born Sept. 24, 1921 in Ennisville, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Jessie (Stewart) Oburn.  Her husband, James H. Schaaf preceded her in death on June 21, 1969.  Surviving are: children, Deborah Ann Kling and husband James of Reedsville, Larry James Schaaf and wife Lila of Vira, Denise Renee Sheaffer and husband David of Lewistown; grandchildren, Letitia Kelly and husband Joe, Michael Sheaffer, Sara Smith and husband Matthew, and Jessica Sheaffer; and nine great grandchildren.  She was the last of her immediate family having been preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters.  She was retired from Ashers Candy, Lewistown.  Ethel was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lewistown.  Her family was her life.  She loved hosting the family holiday meals for 70 years, making her pies, visiting Cape May, but most of all she loved visits, reunions, her grandchildren, and being with her children whenever possible.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019, at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, with Pastor Jerri Carlin officiating.  There will be a viewing one hour before the funeral, Tuesday, at the funeral home.  Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery, Lewistown.
