William Gordon Barger, 96, of Lewistown, passed away, Monday afternoon, Sept. 2, 2019, at Valley View Haven, Belleville. Born March 3, 1923 in Milroy, he was a son of the late William Lloyd and Mary Edith (Herto) Barger. His wife, Ethel M. ‘Peg’ (Bingaman) Barger preceded him in death on Dec. 8, 2012. Surviving are: children, Beverly Bishop and husband Michael of Landisburg, Jesse W. Barger of Lewistown, Larry Barger and wife Buni of Duncannon, David L. Barger and wife Mary of Granville, Elanie M. Beam and husband Norman of Petersburg; step-children, Dean B. Bigelow and wife Deb, Peggy A. Hoffman and husband William all of Huntingdon, Mark W. Bigelow and wife Suzi of Petersburg; siblings, Florence I. Rose of Cherry Hill, James L. Barger of Reedsville, M. Eugene Barger of Milroy; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Joseph Neil Barger, Ira ‘Sonny’ Barger, Kenneth D. Barger, Sr. and 4 sisters, Phyllis L. Barger, M. Mae Wilson, Mona E. Rudy, Alice Romaine Zettle. Gordon was a self-employed photographer, and later in life an electrician. He was a W.W. II Army Air Corps veteran serving as a sergeant and welder. He was a former Mason. He enjoyed going camping and playing his mandolin, and he loved his cats.
