Betty L, (Oburn) Sheaffer

  Betty L. (Oburn) Sheaffer, 91, of 276 Fultz Road, Reedsville, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.  She was born April 10, 1930 in Reedsville, a daughter of the late William T. and Clare S. (Wofley) Oburn. She was united in marriage for 53 years to James G. Sheaffer, Sr., who passed away in 1999.

  She is survived by: her daughter, Caroll S. Fultz of Reedsville; James G. Sheaffer, Jr. and wife Karen of Gypsum, CO; Jay W. “Shawn” Sheaffer & wife Leslie of Reedsville; grandchildren, Roy “Bud” Fultz Jr., & wife Angela of Portsmouth, VA; Jamie Fultz & wife Connie of Reedsville; Jeremy Sheaffer & wife Dawn of Gypsum, CO; Jayson & Jaycub Sheaffer of Reedsville; Judd Sheaffer of Littleton, CO; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn George & husband Joshua; Charles “Chad” Fultz, Chelsea Fultz, Brandon Fultz, & Quinn Piper Sheaffer; great-great grandchild, Payton George, as well as a brother, Frank Oburn of Belleville, and a number of special nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Roy C. “Charlie” Fultz, Sr.

  Betty was a graduate of Reedsville High School.  Her work history included the Reedsville Cannery, the Shirt Factory in Reedsville, the Viscose in Lewistown, and from 1965-1999, she was the owner of the J&B Bar in Reedsville.  She was a member of the Lewistown Loyal Order of Moose, # 143; a member of the Disabled American Veterans, a life member of the Reedsville Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary; served as a Mifflin Co. 4-H leader, she was a pool team leader, and a life member of the Reedsville United Methodist Church.

  Betty enjoyed playing the organ and traveling.  She visited every state in the U.S.  Her best friends were her dogs, Angel & Beauty.

  Her viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Henderson-Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2022 also at the funeral home with Pastor Jean Ward officiating. Burial will take place at Church Hill Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to:  Rescue Our Furry Friends, Po Box 6, Lewistown, PA  17044.
