Carole A. Peters

Carole A. Peters, 76, of 114 Wilson Street, Reedsville, passed away peacefully at 11:02 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2023 at William Penn Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Lewistown.

                She was born August 31, 1946 in Lewistown, a daughter of the late Eugene L. and June E. (Walker) Dickson. On November 20, 1964, she married James L. Peters, Sr., who survives at their home.

                Along with her husband, she is also survived by: her children, Cheryl E. Vogt & husband Andy of Reedsville; Barbara Jo Watson & companion Larry Hoover of Reedsville; and James L. Peters, Jr. & wife Krissy also of Reedsville; four grandchildren, Brittney Rose, Tyler Watson & companion Maura Horning, Kaitlyn Stern, & Brandon Vogt & companion Shelby Miller, as well as six great-grandchildren, Ayden, Harper, Adleigh, Cohen, Avery, and Bentlee; and two brothers, Gary Dickson & wife Sandy of Lewistown and Jeffrey Dickson & wife Barbara of Missouri.

                Carole attended Lewistown High School and obtained her GED. She completed the CNA program at Valley View Haven later in her life. She had been employed at the Shirt Factory in Lewistown, served as a cafeteria aide and recess monitor at Brown Township Elementary School; she then worked at ICP Crown in Lewistown for a number of years, as well as the Minit Mart in Lewistown and lastly was a CNA at Valley View Haven. Following her last employment at Valley View, she began to babysit her grandchildren. She was primarily a homemaker and was very dedicated to her family and making herself available to them when needed.

                She was a member of the Reedsville United Methodist Church where she participated in the choir. She was also always very involved in the Kish Band Boosters where she served as Treasurer while the girls were in school. Carole also took part in Relay for Life for several years.

                She enjoyed cooking for her family, crocheting, doing word search puzzles, and coloring in adult coloring books. In earlier years, she enjoyed going to camp, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and attending horse shows, as well as traveling with her husband especially to North Carolina. She loved her pets too.

                Her funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at Henderson-Bohn Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Reedsville with Pastor Jean Ward officiating. Her family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
