Charles (Ray) Hassinger Obituary

On August 29, 2021, our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend traveled to be with his parents and siblings.  Throughout his life, he played a huge part in the lives of those he met.  He is remembered so fondly for always having a matter-of-fact wisecrack for everyone.  Although his precious wife, Phyllis, was his first love, his family, hunting and fishing gave him pleasure every day.

Ray is survived by: his wife, Phyllis of 75 years of marriage; his children Nancy (Alan) Kauffman, Melinda Rosenthall, Thomas (Melody), and Timothy (Renee) along with his grandchildren (Nathaniel, Matthew, Paige, Claire, Adam, Zachary, Katie, Derek, Ashton, and Amanda); a sister, Joyce Damicantonio, a brother, Harold and wife Faith.  He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by: one son, David; siblings, Samuel, Marion Booher, Glenn, Louise Mitchell.

Ray was a lifelong member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Siglerville and the Men’s Bible School Class.  Ray was also a member of the Lewistown Masonic Lodge #203 and Tall Cedars.

There will be a viewing Tuesday evening, Aug. 31, 2021, 6-8 p.m., at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville.  Funeral services will be Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Siglerville, with Rev. Charles Hershberger officiating.  Interment will be in Salem Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions should be made to: Family Hospice, 20 Sheraton Drive, Altoona, Pa. 16601.
