Curtis B. Wert, 84, of New Lancaster Valley, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born on October 3, 1937, he was the son of the late Brown M. and Annie (Eastwood) Wert.
He was raised by his sister, Florence, and husband, William F,. Hassinger.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers; Kenneth, Arthur, William, George, Glenn, Norman; four sisters, Irma Schultz, Florence Hassinger, Mary Heimbach, Sarah Scyoc and infant sisters.
Curtis is survived by his wife, Nancy (Bonson) Wert, whom he married December 3, 1960; his children Roger S. and wife, Denise (Sherlock) of Granville, Randy C. and wife, Tina (Antoine) of Milroy, and Ricky W. and wife, Debra (Fultz) of Belleville; his sister, Victoria Thompson, and husband Larry of Milroy, and sister-in-law, Alice Wert of Milroy; seven grandchildren, Curtis, Dennis, Shawna, Randa, Kacy, Jessica, and Rodney, and 19 great grandchildren.
He graduated from Armagh Brown class of 1955. Following graduation, he worked for Sherwood Heimbagh’s saw mill, Glenn Zeigler doing roof painting, Ira Wagner’s saw mill, and Beaver’s bakery. He retired from Ford New Holland after 35 years of service on December 23, 1992.
He was a member of the Milroy Pilgrim Holiness Church. He was a life member of NRA and Atkinson Mills Sportsman Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family.
Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, Jan. 7, 2022 at the Milroy Pilgrim Holiness Church with Rev. Rob Dicken officiating. Interment will follow in the New Lancaster Valley Cemetery. There will be a viewing Thursday night 6-8 p.m. at the church.
