Eunice M. Byler, 93, of Belleville, passed away Thursday morning, July 29, 2021 at her home. Born Sept. 10, 1927 in Goshen, Ind. she was a daughter of the late Elmer Y. and Alice R. (Hartzler) Hartman.
Her husband, Allen J. Byler, preceded her in death on June 20, 2005.
Surviving are: children, Wilbur Byler and wife Darlene of Lititz, James Byler and wife Darla of Belleville, Lois Repman and husband Keith of Mifflintown, Rachel Stoppard and husband Gary of Moravian Falls, N.C., Rebecca Hostetler and husband Wendel of, Chambersburg; a daughter-in-law, Rhoda Byler of Freeland, MI.; siblings, Peter Hartman of Kansas, Miriam Hartman of Kansas, Ralph Hartman of Goshen, Ind., Leonard Hartman of Texas; 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: a son, Bruce Byler in 2018; siblings, Lucinda Hartman McGrath, John Elmer Hartman, Dennis D. Hartman.
She was a member of Big Valley Brethren in Christ Church, Belleville. She and her husband spent many years as missionaries in Ethiopia, Africa. Eunice was active in: local outreach at her home with an open door, at the Wednesday market, and at her church. She raised her family on the family farm. She also taught adults English as a second language.
A Service of Celebration will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Locust Grove Mennonite Church, 3358 W. Main Street, Belleville, Pa., with her grandson, Brandon Byler, officiating; this service will be live streamed on Locust Grove Mennonite Church Facebook page. There will be a viewing, 4-7 p.m., Wednesday evening, at the church. Interment will be in the Allensville Mennonite Amish Cemetery.
