J. Lanny McCoy, 81, of Milroy, passed away Tuesday morning, Sept. 21, 2021 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born Nov. 18, 1939 in Burnham, he was a son of the late James M. and Mary B. (Crissman) McCoy. His wife, Anita L. (Gahagan) McCoy, preceded him in death on July 11, 2005. Surviving are: two sons, Christopher L. McCoy and wife Caullie (Wagner) McCoy of Milroy, J. Robert McCoy of Milroy; two step grandchildren, Shannon Marie Segovia, Sydni Sanderson.
Lanny was the owner/operator of McCoy’s Flying Service and McCoy’s Hardware, Milroy. He was a 1957 graduate of Armagh-Brown High School. He was a Major in the Civil Air Patrol, and life member of Milroy Fire Co., member of Free and Accepted Masons, Lodge 203, and a charter member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, Chapter 518, and was a lifelong pilot.
There will be a funeral Monday, Sept. 27, 2021, 1:00 p.m., at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, with Rev. Robert Zorn officiating, and there will be a viewing one hour before the funeral. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made the charity of donor's choice.
