Obituary
Janet L. Allen, 91, of Lewistown, passed away on Monday, Jan. 23, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Bertha Allen, twin sister of JoAnn, and sister of T/Sgt. Walter Allen, all of whom preceded her in death.
Janet resided with her aunt and uncle Mabel and Chalmers Bollinger, and their three children, Jean, Paul, and Joyce after her mother’s passing in childbirth. She is survived by her nieces, Ruby Dunlap, CeCe Wagner, Paula Eckley, and Jan Criswell, as well as a nephew, Alan Houser.
She was employed for 45 years as a switchboard operator at Standard Steel. She traveled extensively throughout the United States and many other destinations throughout the world.
Earlier in life, she attended Rhodes Memorial Church until she was unable to drive. She then became an avid walker and liked to walk to get lunch. She enjoyed soaking in the sun on her lawn chair, reading, and feeding the birds. Janet felt God’s presence, especially through the beauty of His creation.
A graveside service will be held at the convenience of her family at Juniata Memorial Park with Pastor Tom Morningstar officiating.
Her family would like to thank all who extended help and showed kindness to Janet throughout the years.
