Jean (King) Kennett Obituary

Jean M. (King) Kennett, 91, of Reedsville, PA, died Saturday morning, December 21, 2019, at the Brookline Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Mifflintown.  Born December 31, 1927, in Milroy, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur and Martha (McCool) Snook of Milroy.  She was preceded in death by: her 1st husband, Earl M. King (Reedsville), of 31 years and by her 2nd husband, John R. Kennett (Leola) of 19 years; her daughter, Virginia E. Warren of Mechanicsburg; and grandson, Craig A. King of Granville.  She was also preceded in death by 6 sisters and 5 brothers.

Jean is survived by her children, Robert E. King and his wife, Denice, of Milroy, Brenda J. Wagner and her husband, Lynn, of Reedsville, and Richard L. King and his wife, Genevieve, of Reedsville; and stepchildren, Judy Chaplin of Dalton and Robert Kennett and his wife, Linda of Gainesville, NC, as well as her siblings, June Moore of Lewistown, Martha Fultz of Linglestown, Linda Miller of McVeytown and Eileen Noll of Burnham.   Also survived by: 5 grandchildren and 4 stepgrandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and 6 stepgreat-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Jean had worked at the American Viscose and Trinity Plastics, Lewistown, Fisher Electronics, Reedsville, and an Apartment Complex, and a textile manufacturer in Leola.  She attended Milroy High School.  She was an active member of the Milroy White Memorial Church, the Adult Bible Study Group, and the JOY Sunday School Class and participated in the annual church bazaar.  She was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliaries for many years.  She also enjoyed participating in the monthly meetings of Soroptimist International of Centre County, a non-profit organization to support and encourage women and girls in the community and beyond.  Jean loved her family, gardening and flowers, sweeping the sidewalks and the driveway, going out to eat and listening to music, and of course, her cats and an occasional light beer.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 27, 2019, at the Milroy White Memorial Church with Rev. Dr. James A. Barnes, officiating.  Friends of the family will be received from 10:30-11:00 a.m.  A meal will be served immediately following in the Fellowship Hall behind the church.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Milroy White Memorial Church, 68 South Main Street, Milroy, PA  17063, in her memory.
