John W. Eckley, 86, of Milroy, passed away, Sunday evening, Jan. 24, 2021, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital, due to complications of COVID. Born July 22, 1934 in Milroy, he was a son of the late Ernest E. and Dorothy E. (Bubb) Eckley. His wife, Linda Lee (Hoar) Eckley, whom he married Oct. 9, 1954, survives. Also surviving are: children, John W. Eckley, Jr. and wife Kathy of Milroy, Cindy L. Roycroft of Reedsville; siblings, Lottie E. Stimely of Lewistown, James K. Eckley of Milroy, Janice Peachey of Burnham, Ralph E. Eckley of Milroy, Harold S. Eckley of Allensville, Thomas A. Eckley of Milroy, Nancy Seaholtz of Milroy; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Howard E. Eckley.
John had worked at the American Viscose, Standard Steel, and was retired from Lear. He was a 1952 graduate of Armagh-Brown High School. John was a life member and past president of Blue Rock Sportsman's Club, patron member of the N.R.A. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and shooter. He enjoyed spending time and tormenting his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
