John Goshorn Obituary

John E. ”Whiskers” Goshorn, 78, of Reedsville entered into eternal peace with his Lord and Savior, surrounded by his loving family, on May 12, 2022.

Born Aug. 16, 1943, he was a son of the late Dale and Helen (Cauliflower) Goshorn.

John is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Nancy (Rhoades) Goshorn, whom he married on Jan. 3, 1992.

Also surviving are a brother, Robert Goshorn and wife Betty of Dauphin, and sister, Mary McMullen of Shade Gap; children, Tina Myers and husband Robert of Lewistown, Terry Knouse and husband Scott of Reedsville, Tisa Caslow and husband Troy of Lancaster, Jon Silks and wife Jenn of Spring Mills, Holly Hill and husband Brad of Reedsville; 20 grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren.

John was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother and son. He loved and enjoyed his family and his many four-legged friends over the years. His kind and gentle spirit was manifested by the special bond with his family and with the animals he adopted over the years that spanned from rabbits, owls, monkeys, horses, birds, dogs and the list goes on. He loved to serve the Lord by serving others. He gave so freely of himself to his family and friends. We were all so blessed and fortunate that John came into our lives and loved us as his own.

He was a member of Kish Valley Grace Brethren Church and loved his church family and his long time Pastor and friend, Douglas Sabin.

John served in the U.S. Army and enjoyed his monthly breakfast gathering with his fellow veterans.

After his service in the army John was employed through the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local No. 19, from which he retired.

There will be a celebration of life service on Friday, May 20, 2022, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kish Valley Grace Brethren Church with Pastors Luke Shinskie and Douglas Sabin officiating.

A special thanks to UPMC Hospice and their wonderful and compassionate nurses Lauren and Deb.
