M. Hunter Obituary

M. Kay Hunter, 75, passed away at 5:00 a.m. on Friday, August 26, 2022 at her home in Milroy.

Born March 1, 1947 in Lewistown, Kay was the daughter of the late Melvin Fultz and Manis (Reed) Fryer. On August 3, 1963, she married O. David Hunter.

During their 59 beautiful years of marriage, Dave and Kay built a large, loving family. Along with her husband, Kay is survived by her children, Stella Kaufman, Michael Hunter, and Jeffrey and wife Bobbi Hunter, all of Milroy. She was the deeply caring and selflessly devoted Boppy to Jeffrey and wife Sandy Metzgar of Milroy, Jared Hunter of Port Matilda, Lane Hunter of Reedsville, Trent Barlett of Goldsboro, NC, and Carter Forshey of Milroy. She loved her great-grandchildren, Alan, Hannah, and Hunter Wagner of Milroy. She is also survived by her beloved sisters, Patricia Speece, Sara Hoover, and Susan Shawver; her brother, Harry Fultz; and her sister-in-law Jane and husband Ed Stringer. She was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Dippery.

Kay graduated from Kishacoquillas High School. For over a decade, she owned and operated Rainbow’s End. Most recently, she worked in retail as a manager of the former Fashion Bug and as a cashier at the Dollar Tree. She was a very active member of the St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Havice Valley, where she dedicated herself to various positions throughout her life. She was an avid collector of many things, including Longaberger Baskets and Boyds Bears. She enjoyed camping with her family. Her family and friends will forever cherish their wonderful memories of her and will miss her greatly.

Kay’s memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, with Pastor Dale Benner officiating. A fellowship meal will be served following the service at the church.
