Marilyn Yale Obituary

Marilyn J. Yale, 86, of Mercersburg and formerly of Reedsville, passed away peacefully at home with her family on Monday, February 20, 2023.

She was born on November 26, 1936 in Lewistown, a daughter of the late Harry and Mattie (Thomas) Singleton.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Richard Yale & wife DeAnne of Mercersburg; Laura Westover & husband David of North Carolina; and David Yale, New Hampshire; seven grandchildren, Josh Yale, Bryanna Kephart, Kirsten Yale, David Yale, Blake Yale, Ally Westover and Jessica Westover; four great-grandchildren, Landon Yale, Wyatt Baylor, Gracie Baylor and Aubrey Yale, as well as a sister, Helen Warfel of Reedsville. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Harry “Bud” and William “Bill” Singleton, and sisters, Betty Zimmer and Mattie Singleton Moist.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She retired as a case worker from the Commonwealth of PA, and prior to that had worked for Mifflin County MHMR.

Marilyn was a member of the Reedsville United Methodist Church and, upon her retirement, volunteered many years with Reedsville Meals on Wheels.

She loved her dog Murphy and enjoyed reading with a cup of tea in-hand, taking walks in all seasons, baking for family & friends, dancing & listening to music, watching classic movies, and seized every opportunity to travel. Most of all, she loved to spend time together with her family and friends.  She will be dearly missed by many.

A memorial service is being planned for the end of March; details to be announced at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Henderson-Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville.

In lieu of flowers, Marilyn requested donations be made to: Meals on Wheels (c/o Donald L. Smith, 40 N. Penn Street, PO Box 5681, Belleville, PA 17004), or to Rescue Our Furry Friends, P.O. Box 6, Lewistown, PA  17044.
