Mildred Smith

Mildred J. Smith, 87, of 32 Goss Terrace, Lewistown, passed away at 2:13 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2022 at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.

                She was born November 18, 1934 in McVeytown, a daughter of the late Harrison and Ruth (Gearhart) Spickler. In May of 1955, she married Doyle “Mutt” Smith. He preceded her in death on April 30, 2003.

                She is survived by:  her children, Doyle Smith & wife Holly of Tampa, FL; Doug Smith & wife Terri of Lewistown; and Jeannie Goss & husband Frank Goss, Jr. of Lewistown; eight grandchildren, Jason Stitt & wife Ashlee, Brittany Riden & husband Brock, Nathan Smith, Derek Smith & wife Cindi, Creig Smith, Brodie Smith & wife Alexa, Kourtney Hesketh & husband Zac, and Zach Williams & wife Kareena; two step-grandchildren, Morgan Weaver & husband Codi and Mackenzie Frymyer; as well as 15 great-grandchildren and a brother, Richard Spickler of McClure.

                Along with her parents and spouse, she was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Penny Smith, a sister, Doris Moist, and three half-brothers, William, Frank, and Harrison Spickler, Jr.

                In 1996, Mildred retired from Empire Kosher with 28 years of service.

                Most of all, Mildred enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing Skip-Bo and traveling locally to listen to country music.

                Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Henderson-Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville with Bobby Spickler officiating. Burial will take place following the service at Woodlawn Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
