Reed Henderson Obituary

  Reed Thomas Henderson, 51, of Belleville, passed away peacefully at his home in the mountains, at 12:15 a.m. Thursday, February 17, 2022.

  Born January 12, 1971 in Altoona, he was the son of the late R. Thomas Henderson, who passed away on August 21, 2020 and Dorothy M. (Frye) Henderson who resides in Duncansville. On May 23, 1998, he married April D. (Fortney) Henderson who survives at their home.

  He is also survived by: his sons, Tristan W. Henderson and Elijah L. Henderson, both at home, a brother, Randy T. Henderson of Altoona, two sisters, Elizabeth Myers & husband Ben of Manchester and Nicole Henderson & husband Michael Smith of Duncansville; nieces & nephews, Kaden Henderson, Nichole Windhausen, Eric Myers, Evan Fortney & Taylor Fortney; an aunt, Audrey Echard, an uncle, Wayne Henderson & wife Elissa; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred & Cindy Fortney; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Travis & Tobie Fortney and a grandmother-in-law, Geraldine Hancock Piper.

  Reed graduated in 1989 from Williamsburg High School and in 1994 from Slippery Rock University with a Bachelors degree in Secondary Math Education. In 1995, he began employment with his father at JB Kunz and Henderson Printing where he worked until July 2013 when he became owner/operator of Kish Printing and Promotional Products in Burnham where he worked until the present. He and his wife also own & operate Henderson Funeral Home in Belleville and Henderson-Bohn Funeral Home in Reedsville.

  He and his family attended Mountain View Mennonite Chapel, he was a member of the Belleville Lions Club, Blue Rock Sportsman’s Club, and he served for several years on the Central Keystone Football & Cheer League. He coached in the Upwards Basketball Program at Beavertown Bible Church, coached for Hall Ball, was instrumental in organizing and coaching for the Belleville Lions Football team, and served as a coach at the pee wee and midget levels for the Kish Indians Football Team.

  He enjoyed hunting for deer and turkey, fishing, coaching at any and all levels, spending time on the boat at Raystown, but most of all, being with his family and friends.  He will always be remembered for his quick wit, sarcastic remarks and competitive nature.

  His family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Locust Grove Mennonite Church, 3358 West Main St., Belleville, PA  17004. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 21, 2022 at Locust Grove with Pastors Dave Aungst, Dan Mansberger and Rich Morris officiating. Burial will take place at Locust Grove Cemetery following the service.
