Richard L Kratzer, Jr.

Richard L. Kratzer, Jr., 62, of 525 Highland Avenue, Lewistown, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024, at home.

He was born on November 16, 1961, in Lewistown, to the late Richard L. Kratzer, Sr. and Nellie (Aumiller) Kratzer.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a niece Carlynn Kratzer.

Surviving are his brothers and sisters:  Emily J. Henry and husband Robert of Lewistown, Carl L. Kratzer and wife Ellen of Milroy, Victoria A. Dejong and husband Hans of Belleville; nieces and nephews:  Anthony S. Kratzer and wife Amanda of Lewistown, Alicia Heisey and husband Mike of Lancaster; 5 great-nieces and nephews, a great-great niece and a great-great nephew.

He graduated in 1980 from Kishacoquillas High School and was employed at Overhead Door for 28 years.

He loved playing bluegrass music and was an original member of Remington Ryde.  He played every year at the Blue Grass Festival in Reedsville and participated in workshops to teach children to play instruments.  He also enjoyed fixing cars, and getting together with family and friends. 

A memorial service will be held at Henderson-Bohn Funeral Home, 55 N. Main Street, Reedsville, PA on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 11 a.m.  There will be a visitation from 10 – 11 a.m. prior to the service.
