Roy A. Bush

Roy A. Bush, 89, of 13 Bonnie Lane, Reedsville, passed away at 12:44 p.m., Monday, February 27, 2023 at his home.

Born October 11, 1933 in Julian, PA, he was a son of the late Edward and Kathleen (Watson) Bush. His wife of 66 years, Rachel (Resides) Bush, survives at home.

In addition to his wife, Roy is survived by: children, Rochelle D. Winn of Lewistown, Darlene M. Jones of Reedsville, and Jonathan R. Bush and wife, Jeannie, of Burnham; grandchildren, Jeremy Winn and wife, Amy, Jared Winn, Rachel Jones, Brittian Bush and wife, Jamie, Caleb Bush and wife, Tara, and Cameron Foultz and wife, Desirae; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Janie L. (Bush) Capperella of Bellefonte, and Alvin A. Bush and wife, Judy, of Ohio.

He was preceded in death by: infant children, Kathy Lynn in 1958, Richard Lee in 1959, and Linda Grace in 1960; sons-in-law, Jerry Winn in 2014, and Jack J. Jones in 1991; siblings, Beverly A. (Bush) Haupt, Amelia P. (Bush) Hockenberry, Lillian G. Bush, Howard A. Bush, Earl W. Bush, and Gerald E. “Mike” Bush.

Roy graduated from Bellefonte High School in 1951. He went on to serve in the United States Army from August 1953 to June 1955. He worked in grocery stores for over 27 years, then was employed at Sanyo until his retirement.

He was a member of Kish Valley Grace Brethren Church in Reedsville. He enjoyed cutting wood, gardening, and spending time at his camp in the hollow.

His family will receive friends and a viewing will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Kish Valley Grace Brethren Church in Reedsville. A funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastors Luke Shinskie and Doug Sabin officiating. His family would like to extend an invitation to those in attendance to join them in wearing a flannel shirt in Roy’s honor. Interment will be private at Bush Hollow Cemetery.
