Sara Jane Butts

Sara Jane Butts, 92, of Greenwood Village, Lewistown, passed away at 5:38 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, 2022, at Greenwood Village.

She was born on Jan. 13, 1930, in Shrader, a daughter of the late Charles Andrew and Mary Grace (Hassinger) Fultz. She was united in marriage to Charles R. Butts, who passed away on Dec. 10, 1988.

She is survived by: her children, Bonnie DeArment and husband Charles of Belleville; Patricia L. Byler and husband Richard of Belleville; and John A. Butts and wife Julie of Reedsville; six grandchildren, Hollie Ayers of Bedford; Heather Vincent and husband Davide “Dwight” of Red Lion; Carla Banks and husband Marvin of Punxsutawney; Kelsey Toomer and husband Marcus of Pleasant Gap; Nicole Brubaker and husband Travis of Reedsville; and Tyler Butts and companion Bek Oakley of Reedsville; eight great- grandchildren, Olivia Vincent, Victoria Vincent, Brianna Baumgardner, Alexander Baumgardner, Claire Brubaker, Kenzie Brubaker, Lucas Brubaker, and Dean Butts, as well as two sisters, Phyllis May Frankhouser of Milroy, and Betty Louise Corbin of Milroy. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Leroy Fultz in 1984, and a great-grandson Michael Ayers.

Sara was primarily a homemaker but in earlier years, she worked as a sales clerk at Montgomery Ward. She attended St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Havice Valley; was a member of the Lewistown Loyal Order of Moose, Ladies Auxiliary No. 143. She loved playing bingo, enjoyed reading, putting puzzles together, and gardening.

Her family will receive friends during the viewing from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, at Henderson-Bohn Funeral Home, 55 N. Main St., Reedsville. A graveside service will immediately follow at Church Hill Cemetery, with Chaplain Tavis Stauffer officiating.
