Violet E. Maben

Violet E. “Vi” Maben, 102, formerly of Reedsville, was granted her final wish to fall asleep and wake up in the arms of Jesus on Monday, October 30, 2023.

She was born on July 9, 1921 to the late William P. and Mary (Reynolds) Mackey.  She married her husband, R. Frank Maben, Sr. on January 13, 1945.  He preceded her in death on February 14, 2010.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant brother and a sister, Mary Sterrett.  She was the last of her immediate family.

Surviving are children Patricia “Trish” Zarkavich and husband Gary of Strodes Mills, Geraldine “Gerre” Wagner and husband Richard L. Wagner, Sr. of Siglerville, Robert Franklin “Frank” Maben, Jr. and wife Kelly of Belleville, 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, as well as many great-great grands and 3 great, great, great-grandchildren.

Violet attended Reedsville High School.  Earlier in life, she worked at Rice’s Grocery in Reedsville, then later on as an Operating Room Technician at Lewistown Hospital for 17 years.   She attended Reedsville CMA Church and Grace Covenant Church in Lewistown.

She enjoyed traveling to Ireland with her family and was always on the go.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Henderson-Bohn Funeral Home, 55 N. Main Street, Reedsville.  The funeral service will also be at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with Michael Bailey officiating.  Burial will be at the Church Hill Cemetery.
