William Lawrence Collins, Jr., 90, of Reedsville, passed away Sunday morning, May 31, 2020, at Glade Valley Nursing Home, Frederick, MD. Born November 14, 1929 in McVeytown, he was a son of the late William L. and Harriet E. (Zeigler) Collins. His wife, Irene N. (Nafzinger) Collins, preceded him in death on Mar. 15, 2019.
Surviving are: a daughter, Renee Irene (Collins) Kibe of Shepherdstown, W.V.; two grandchildren, Tara Kibe and Tanner Kibe both of Reedsville. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea for 2 years and then the Army Reserves for 39 years. He was a member of the East Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church, Reedsville, and had served as president of the Church Hill Cemetery. He retired from Penn State University.
He adored his grandchildren and loved watching them play sports, attending nearly all of their games. Throughout his career, he was an exceptional carpenter and painter, and always was willing to lend a hand. He enjoyed hunting, and spent warm weather on the golf course.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 8, 2020 at Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville, with Rev. Pat Roller officiating.
